Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team & North West Air Ambulance say thanks

Following last month’s big charity raffle, we’ve shared the £500 proceeds equally between Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team and North West Air Ambulance whose services depend upon donations.

Richard Moss at Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team comments:

“We’ve been helping those in need on mountains in Wasdale and Eskdale, including England’s highest fell, Scafell Pike, 24/365 for over 50 years. The 100+ calls received each year cover anything from hypothermia and injury, to lost and stranded individuals. Donations such as Jayva’s allow us to continue serving our region as well as train our professional volunteering team. Annually, it costs over £70,000 to maintain our life-saving services so every pound donated makes the world of difference. Thank you to everyone at Jayva for supporting us in the recent charity event. The money will be put to extremely good use by rescuing people in the Lake District’s fells.”

Lauren Herrity at North West Air Ambulance states:

“Thank you for the very kind donation of £250 from your raffle. Your generous gift will contribute to keeping our vital services flying 365 days a year across the North West. The government and NHS don’t keep us flying. Your donations do!.”

Our CEO Nicola Moore-Miller sums up our charity fundraiser:

“Thanks to the wonderful local businesses who donated prizes and thanks to all the people who bought raffle tickets. Your money is making a positive impact on our community by allowing Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team and North West Air Ambulance to be there for anyone, anytime, anywhere in the western Lake District.”
