“So… you’re IT trainers then?”

I’d like to share a quick story about why law firms investing in legal tech still undervalue practice and case management software (PCMS) training & consultancy.

At a recent networking event, a managing partner of a law firm asked what we do at Jayva. When I explained we support law firms with practice and case management transformation, he smiled and said:

“Got it. You’re IT trainers.”

If only it were that simple.

Modern legal tech should be intuitive. No one needs training to be told which button to press. But that’s not what true consultancy is. What most law firms don’t see is the real work behind a successful technology change:

  • understanding people, processes and behaviours

  • mapping workflows that actually save time

  • foreseeing dependencies, integrations and risks

  • managing change and engagement

  • applying lessons learned from hundreds of practices around the world

No screen recording or quick-start guide can deliver that. And that’s why our consulting team isn’t made up of “trainers”.

Instead, our team includes:

  • legal cashiers

  • accountants

  • data migration specialists

  • attorneys

  • paralegals

  • legal secretaries

Real people who’ve done the job, understand the pressure, and know what good looks like in practice, not just in theory.

So, when people ask me what we do now, I say:

“Jayva helps law firms work smarter and grow stronger – with a down to earth, experienced consulting team focused on people and practical solutions, not just technology.”

We listen twice as much as we talk. We solve real problems. And we bring people with us through change – because that’s the part no intuitive software can do.
