Jayva’s Will Penrice takes on the Snowdon Push charity fundraiser to ‘give back’

At Jayva, we believe in the importance of corporate social responsibility, not only in the ethical stance we adopt in our business dealings (we’re downright ‘nice’ people) and positive impact we make on the environment (recently switching primarily to an online delivery model for consulting and training services), but also in the way we do good for others.

Will Penrice, our Global Business Development Director, is taking our ‘giving back’ mentality to the extreme later this month. To raise funds for spinal cord injury charity, Back Up, on Saturday 17th September Will’s tackling Wales’s tallest peak, Mount Snowdon.

As if an ascent (and descent) of 3,500 feet totalling nine miles over rough terrain isn’t enough, there’s an extra twist to the challenge. Will’s walking, pushing, pulling, wheeling, carrying and climbing a wheelchair user within his ten-strong team to an elevation of 1,085 metres.

For insight into the ‘why’ of the Snowdon Push, Will explains the reasons for embarking upon the upcoming major physical feat:

“Back Up’s a charity supporting people affected by spinal cord injury, ensuring they get the most out of life by changing perceptions of what’s possible, and increasing skills and confidence. Having volunteered on numerous events now for Back Up, I see them as a torch of hope for people in their darkest hour following catastrophic injury.

“I actually have personal motivation following an accident I sustained in 2004 with my son. It was a traumatic experience with orthopaedic, neurological, audiological and psychological damage. Thankfully, I fall into the ‘near miss’ category and every single day since my fall, I consider myself extremely fortunate to still be able to walk.

“All money raised will help sufferers to regain their zest for life and strengthen their sense of self-belief, just like me. There are roughly 50,000 people in the UK living with a spinal cord injury and around 2,500 people are newly injured annually so there’s no worthier charity.”

Please join Will’s supporters in getting behind the intrepid team. Every pound donated makes a huge difference to Back Up and the charity’s beneficiaries. Pledge your donation at snowdon.backuptrust.org.uk/will-penrice.
